Life Truly is Unpredictable

I stared at the phone and started sweating. Only a mere 5% charge was left on there.

I only had 20 minutes to deliver a lovely puppy to its forever home in Dallas, Texas.

All the odds were stacked against me—I had to get off the plane, locate the owners, hand over the pup, pass through security, and catch my connecting flight, all in that tight 20-minute window.  The challenge seemed insurmountable.

“Look for a girl with a pink sweater” is all I could say before my phone—with my precious boarding pass in it—died.

Luckily, the delivery was successful, and I could hand Fluffy to his new, delighted parents. A brief moment of joy, before finding myself in a race against time. 

The ticket booth lines were too long to acquire a printed pass, so I desperately sought an outlet to charge my phone. Charging it to 5% once again, I sprinted through security, heart pounding.

That’s when my life changed forever.

At the gate, I encountered a kind stranger, her name unknown to me. In an unexpected turn of events, she offered a power bank to revive my phone.

And she said something that made my jaw drop.

“Katie, this is confirmation from the Lord about your business.”

I hadn’t shared my name or the purpose of my journey. Nor she could, for any reason, know anything about my ideas about opening a pet-sitting business.

It was a moment of divine intervention, a clear message from God urging me to pursue His will and bring to life the business that had been etched on my heart. 

And so, here I am—I’m Katie, a fervent advocate for animals and the proud owner of Sunshine Sitters Inc. My story is the reason why I consider each new person and client that comes my way a blessing, and I approach them with the same love and care that defined my upbringing in the farmland of Illinois, surrounded by our beloved family cats and dogs. 

Love for animals is the driving force behind everything I do, and what I consider my calling in life.

I can’t wait to meet you and your puppy and take care of him like I do with Scarlett, pictured above—my beloved companion who embodies the spirit of love and care that defines Sunshine Sitters Inc.
